In early 2014, the Carriage Inn & Saloon opened in its historic location in North Kingstown. The iconic building dates back to 1760, where it was once a busy stagecoach stop along the Northeast Corridor. Today, after a modern renovation that kept original stone walls and fireplaces intact, the sprawling space includes a main dining room, two lounges, an oyster bar and a banquet facility. With a nod to the past, the casual restaurant serves great American fare with a Rhode Island flair.

The menu offers an excellent selection of tried and true favorites, like steakhouse quality chops and steaks, fresh seafood, burgers, pastas and pizza. Their signature dish is a slow-roasted prime rib that’s aged for five weeks, then prepared with their own seasoned rub. Heaping plates of high quality comfort food always provide a tremendous value, with most of the dishes priced under $20.

The Whiskey Bar, one of two lounges, is in the oldest part of the building. Here you can find a whopping 125 bottles of whiskey and an intimate rustic charm complete with a roaring woodburning fireplace. The Saloon is reminiscent of a lively Irish pub, where you can catch a game on TV and grab a craft brew. The oyster bar is brimming with colossal shrimp, local oysters and littlenecks, shucked to order. And the Surrey Lounge is a unique setting for any special event up to 150 guests. With something for everybody, the Carriage Inn & Saloon continues to make history and memories in Southern Rhode Island.
