What it is:

A shop filled with home, beauty, lifestyle, apparel, and paper goods from makers near and far.

Where to find it:

Look for The Current in the heart of Main Street in East Greenwich, next door to Town Hall and across the street from Bone Appetit pet shop.

What makes it a Rhody Gem?

After living in NYC for a decade, designer Britni Sweet returned to Little Rhody and opened her shop with the intent of bringing a “huge piece of Brooklyn to East Greenwich.” What that means is a curated collection representing small businesses with handmade and fair trade goods, sourced locally and from around the world. “Things that are different from what we are used to seeing in gift stores,” says Sweet. “Modern, fun, bright, current, thoughtfully designed with beauty and functionality in mind.” Shoppers can find bath products, functional kitchen tools, incense and candles, and clothes made ethically in the US, Italy, and Turkey. Additionally, Sweet wants her store to be a welcoming space. “I love getting to know my customers and they are the best. I’m here for them. [The shop is] full of love and happiness, allowing them to bring a small piece of that home.”
