Rhody Gem: The Bike Stop Cafe

We’re on the hunt for Rhody Gems! Every neighborhood has that secret, hidden, cool and unusual, or hole-in-the-wall spot that locals love. Email or tag us on social media using #RhodyGem to suggest yours, and we might just feature it!

What it is:

An American restaurant specializing in comfort food. Find wood fired pizza (even a gluten-free, vegan option), fish tacos, pulled pork, homemade mac and cheese, and more.

Where to find it:

With barely any outdoor signage this place is easy to miss, especially since the address is Boon Street but the entrance is on Congdon, housed in a long building across from a park and around the corner from Crazy Burger.

What makes it a Rhody Gem?

While welcoming, the Bike Stop feels like a locals in-the-know spot. A wood fired oven right in the dining room adds cozy appeal and provides an almost floor-show experience when food is paddled in and out. According to owner Casey Montanari, the oven is made from hand split rocks and includes a piece of the sea wall destroyed during Hurricane Sandy. “Kevin Andrews, who handcrafted both of our ovens, carved a man he named Earl out of a piece of stone from the wall. Earl actually sits on our pizza oven greeting our customers when they enter.”
