Take the Plunge on New Year's Day

Posted

There’s no better way to start the new year than with a freezing romp in the Atlantic with hundreds of other thrill seekers. Luckily South County has no shortage of polar plunges. Laid Back Fitness hosts their Frozen Clam Obstaplunge – a combination obstacle course and traditional Day One dip – at Goddard State Park in East Greenwich, the RI CAN Ocean House Marina Polar Plunge meets at Charlestown Beach and the Special Olympics Rhode Island Penguin Plunge will be diving at Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett. There’s also the Block Island Polar Plunge at Fred Benson Town Beach (BlockIslandInfo.com) and the Polar Bear Plunge for A Wish Come True at Easton’s Beach in Newport.

So you’ve got options. Very, very cold options. Knowing that you’ll be doing something so crazy for a good cause ought to warm you right up, but bring some hot cocoa for afterwards. Just in case.

Polar Bear Plunge for A Wish Come True, Laid Back Fitness frozen clam obstaplunge, RI CAN Ocean House Marina Polar Plunge, Special Olympics Rhode Island Penguin Plunge, so rhode island, polar plunge, rhode island polar plunge
